Ashabhumi Nepal’s Collaboration with UNFAO
Last week, the founder of Ashabhumi Nepal had the opportunity to meet Ken Shimizu, Director of the UNFAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) for Nepal and Bhutan, along with other officials. This meeting was a significant step forward as we discussed potential collaboration between Ashabhumi Nepal and FAO Nepal to empower farmers through organic farming.
The FAO Office in Nepal has expressed a positive outlook on providing us with technical and financial support wherever possible. This support is crucial as it will enable us to expand our initiatives and increase our impact in rural communities. We are excited about the prospect of this collaboration and the positive changes it will bring to the lives of many farmers.
As part of this collaboration, we will soon be providing a training program focused on agroforestry techniques. This program is designed to serve farmers and youth in rural communities, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt sustainable farming practices. Agroforestry enhances agricultural productivity and contributes to environmental conservation, making it a holistic approach to rural development.
A special thank you goes to Vincent Martin, Director, Office of Innovation, FAO, for his invaluable support in connecting us and fostering this collaboration. Your efforts are helping us progress towards a greener and more sustainable future.
We invite you to be a part of the Ashabhumi Nepal initiative and embrace simplicity to serve the greater good. Join us in our mission to empower rural communities through sustainable farming practice.
Ashabhumi Nepal built a Nursery for plantation project
Ashabhumi constructed a nursery for planting initiatives. Currently developing numerous fruit trees from seeds. It intends to distribute these saplings to villagers who have barren land and help them plant them in a way that follows the principles of agroforestry, introducing different types of seeds, vegetables, and crops that can grow together with the fruit trees, creating a diverse and productive ecosystem, and then empower farmers by working together.
Growing more than crops
It’s planting season for rice and more than 20 community members are in the field to help cultivate one of the farmers’ lands. While some men are plowing the field with an ox to loosen the soil, women are cultivating the crops, and children are playing in the muddy ground. Some help with passing plants, Laughter fills the air, and harmonious songs are sung by the young farmers that resonate like nature’s own melody. The smell after the rain is refreshing and adds reassurance to the hearts of the farmers.
This is what was seen in the past in the rural village, but the culture is slowly disappearing. Ashabhumi Nepal is committed to reviving such good practices
